Facilitation

I facilitate a wide range of learning and change processes, working with a broad range of organisations including community groups, artists, NGOs, universities and policy organisations. While my specific approach varies with context, consistent across my practice is a commitment to hosting conversations that matter to everyone involved, integrity to the emergent learning process, collaboration with everyone involved in a way that is sensitive to their needs and courage to support a group process towards more honesty and agency.

Some Organisations I have collaborated with:

Durham University: In 2023, I joined the ‘Joyful and Safe Phsyical Activity Project’ led by Durham University as a creative and participatory researcher. Through building deeper relationships and collaboration across complex commonalities I fostered a generous, mutually supportive and reflective team ethos. This contributed to us being braver together and co-designing an emergent participatory research process with two groups of LGBTQIA+ neurodiverse young people. Through warm, ethically reflective and relationship- orientated approach, the young people grew in confidence and participated with increasing honesty. We co-produced a zine to share learning and invite adults into the conversation, the young people’s response to requests from policy makers for easy answers.

North Pennines National Landscape Partnership: From 2021-2022 I initiated, convened and co-facilitated an action-learning group with staff members and a diverse network of wider stakeholders, where we unpacked critical issues around equity, diversity and inclusion in the North Pennines. Through inviting everyone to participate as a co-researcher, the group engaged in collective learning, including finding ways to integrate knowledge from ‘opposite’ perspectives. We documented the process through a group learning journal, co-wrote ‘Looking Back, Dreaming Forward’, a living document that consolidated and shared more widely the collective learning.

Joseph Rowntree Trust Sustainable Futures Network: Hosted whole network meetings, a peer support network and specific work on making space for conversations and peer learning around white supremacy and racism in the environmental sector.

Bristol Refugee Rights and Dignity for Asylum Seekers: facilitated weekly group of asylum seekers to engage in diverse forms creative action to have their voices heard, including creating a unique piece of theatre with Acta Community Theatre- Listen to Our Story

Dandelion Collective: hosted conversations to explore peoples concerns around trans inclusion.

Coal Action Network: facilitated community campaign meetings

Bristol Disability Forum: trainings in campaign skills.

Friends of the Earth Colombia: co-hosted a large nationals Climate Justice conference
